During ongoing dismantling work at the shipwreck 'Simone' in the Wiking Harbour, a fuel deposit in a recovered tank was discovered and secured in time. As stated in a press release, the work was immediately halted, and the relevant authorities were informed before the tank could be damaged.

Approximately 200 Liters of Diesel Found in the Tank

It was later determined that approximately 200 liters of diesel remained in the tank. The fuel was pumped out by the commissioned specialist company. Remaining residues in the tank were subsequently absorbed using a special binding agent.

Multiple Agencies on Site

On-site were the Technical Relief Service, the responsible Lower Water Authority, and the Specialist Service for Order and Citizen Affairs. According to the city, the necessary measures were closely coordinated.

Visible Traces on the Water

Spilled fuel on the water's surface was absorbed using a special oil-absorbing fleece. Currently, visible traces of the spill are observable in the work area. The city of Schleswig, according to its own statements, is in close contact with the responsible water authority regarding this.

The situation will continue to be monitored on-site. The necessary measures will also be closely coordinated over the weekend.

Work Will Resume on Monday

Dismantling work was halted today and is expected to resume on Monday.
